Vera 2020 Celebrates 26th Birthday, Stonewall 50 with Online Fundraiser

"On June 28, 1969, a nearly quarter century before I was born, Queer people rebelled. The Stonewall Uprising started the LGBT+ movement as we know it today. Always remember that our Pride began as a fight for survival - and it continues today.

Now, a quarter century later, I'm proud to be running as the first openly gay candidate for State Representative in downstate Illinois. I know that my candidacy wouldn't be possible without the sacrifice of the brave people who, 50 years ago today, stood up for all of us.

Growing up, I rarely asked for birthday presents. But for my 26th birthday, I know exactly what to ask for: your support.

On my birthday and 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, help me build an Illinois that works for all of our working families."
